On Friday, October 23rd, 2020, at approximately 3:30 pm, the Turlock Police Department received a call of an injury vehicle collision where a child was hit in the parking lot of Pioneer North Apartments located at 1300 Pioneer Ave. The Turlock Police Department and American Medical Response responded, along with the Turlock Fire Department with Battalion 4, Engine 31, Engine 33, and Fire 12.
The first to arrive was a Turlock Police unit shortly before 3:35 pm, followed by Engine 33. Captain 33 assumed command and put Engine 33 in the investigation mode. Paramedics assessed the victim and determined that they had injuries that required transport by air ambulance. One was requested and CALSTAR was dispatched.
CALSTAR arrived on scene and safely landed at a landing zone set up at Dutcher Middle School just before 4:00 pm. American Medical Response transported the victim to the landing zone where he was safely loaded onto the air ambulance and airlifted away from the scene to a medical center in the bay area. Fire and medical crews cleared the scene, but the Turlock Police Department remained on scene to gather statements and conduct an investigation. Once their investigation was complete, they also cleared from the scene.
Due to the age of the victim, no further information will be released.
