The Center for Human Services is a finalist competing to win one of 40 $25,000 grants from the State Farm Neighborhood Assist grant program.

CHS, a Modesto nonprofit, would use the grant money to start an Entrepreneurship Academy to help youth in the local community.

Dropping out of high school, unemployment, and poverty are difficult hurdles for youth in Stanislaus County to overcome and maximize their potential. The Academy could address these difficulties by teaching life skills, relevant learning, creativity, relationship building, accountability, and much more through entrepreneurship education.

Voting for the top 200 finalists began on April 28, and will continue through May 16. Voters can vote up to 10 times per day.

For a complete list of the 200 finalists, and to vote for CHS or one of the many causes vying for one of the grants, visit StateFarm.com/neighborhoodassist.
