Health Insurance Enrollment Open Beginning Nov. 1

With the second annual open enrollment season for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act opening Nov. 1, 2015, there are certain things individuals newly seeking private insurance should know. Covered California is the state’s marketplace for insurance in accordance with the federal Affordable Care Act, or as many refer to it as Obama Care, that was created by the California Department of Health Care Services for individuals and small businesses to purchase health insurance plans from about 10 different companies.

TUSD Board Approves Wireless Internet Project Costing About $2.9 Million

The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees approved the Wireless/Fiber proposal through a unanimous vote on Tuesday evening. The approval allows the project to begin the design phase, create timetables, and develop Request for Proposals for Board approval. The January 2014 audit results/recommendations report presented options such as upgrades to the Wide Area Network to allow for future 10 Gb/s connectivity, an upgrade to switches with “Power over Ethernet” capability, an increase to 1 Gb/s in internet connectivity, an upgrade to fiber connections and ethernet cabling connections, and the addition of a centrally-managed wireless network.

TUSD Board Meeting to Discuss Tech Upgrade, Red Ribbon Week, Student Trips

The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees will be holding a meeting to discuss the approval of the Technology Network Upgrade Project, various donations to school activities and the TUSD farm, out-of-state trips, and adopt a resolution to support Red Ribbon Week. At 6 p.m., opening business will begin with the public meeting being called to order. Afterward, the Board will have convene in a closed session until 6:30 p.m.
