A new Billy Graham-designed program, intended to help pastors grow their church, is coming to Turlock.
An informational session on the “My Hope” program will be held on March 21 at Turlock Covenant Church.
Turning 95 this year, the popular evangelist Graham designed “My Hope with Billy Graham” to help people in churches share the gospel with their neighbors and friends.
“Billy Graham feels that God has called him to deliver one last message to the United States and Canada, and he’s calling it My Hope,” said Roger Soderstrom, a Turlock farmer and one of the organizers for the event. “By using small meetings in our homes, as opposed to a big venue, we are mimicking Matthew in the bible.”
The free informational session held is intended for local pastors of all churches, but anyone is invited to attend. The session will be taught by a representative from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
My Hope focuses on the relational “in your own home” method of sharing the gospel. The goal is to have church members invite small groups of neighbors and friends into their homes during the week of Nov. 9 to 12 to listen to a message from Billy Graham.
“We are excited, and we would expect many churches from Turlock and Modesto to attend the seminar,” said Soderstrom. “We think it would be a good challenge to reach out to our neighbors and friends, gain a creditable platform by befriending them now and establishing a relationship with them. This builds a platform to speak to them about the gospel during that week in November.”
The Billy Graham Evangelical Association will present the November message via television, DVDs, tablets or smart phones.
“We do know that many churches are already on board for My Hope and our prayer is many in Turlock will come to know the redemptive grace of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ.”
The My Hope information session will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. March 21 at the Turlock Covenant Church, located at 316 Laurel St..
