As the sign says, “This office is closed until further notice.”
The Turlock Superior Courthouse, located at 300 Starr Ave. between the Brandon Koch Memorial Skate Park and the former Turlock Police Department, has been closed since Oct. 1, 2009. The State of California decided at that time to temporarily close the court as a budget saving measure.
The Turlock Superior Courthouse now looks unlikely to reopen, ever.
The State of California recently approved the construction of a new, $277 million, 26-room courthouse in Downtown Modesto. One of that facility’s stated goals is to consolidate all existing Stanislaus County courthouses, leading to the permanent closure of Turlock’s courthouse.
