San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has advanced to the final four in the Madden NFL 15 video game cover vote, where he will face a familiar foe.
In the semifinal matchup, Kap will go up against the loud, trash-talking Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman. Sherman famously tipped a late Kaepernick pass intended for Michael Crabtree in the 2014 NFC Championship game, closing the door on the 49ers’ Super Bowl hopes.
This is the matchup that everyone expected to see on this side of the bracket. The NFL continues to capitalize on the 49ers-Seahawks rivalry, which has quickly become the best in the league.
Kap received 58 percent of the votes in the quarterfinals to beat Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly.
In the other semifinal matchup, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton will face Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck in a battle of former first overall picks.
The winners of the semifinal matchups will be announced May 30.
The winner will be decided by a fan vote. Voters can vote in each matchup once per day. To see the full bracket and vote, visit http://espn.go.com/nfl/feature/maddenvote.
