Turlock police arrested a man with a warrant out of Merced County on Friday afternoon, despite being given a false name by the suspect.
A citizen called 911 around 1:26 p.m. Friday to report that a subject had approached her vehicle while she was stopped for traffic in the area of Grant Avenue and Chestnut Street.
She also reported that the subject appeared to be “high,” and pressed his face against the window of her vehicle.
She left the scene, but made sure to report the incident to the Turlock Police Department.
Police arrived to the scene and were able to locate the subject. Police reported that he appeared to be under the influence.
When initially talking to police, the subject gave a false name. Eventually police were able to properly identify the subject as Robert Lair, 42.
Upon the revelation of his identity, Lair attempted to flee the scene.
Police were able to apprehend Lair after a short struggle and he was booked for a felony warrant out of Merced for obstruction.
