A small, dedicated army of 75 volunteers prepared hundreds of pounds of food today at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds for the Turlock Gospel Mission’s free Thanksgiving dinner, to be held tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mission’s soon-to-be-year-round shelter at 437 S. Broadway.
Volunteers prepared more than 50 donated turkeys with all the fixings and enough sides and vegetables to feed 400 people. The largest donor was Fresh Point, a Turlock produce distributor, which donated most of the fresh veggies for the dinner.
Turlock Gospel Mission expects to make the Thanksgiving dinner a free annual event going forward.
