Tonight at approximately 5:35pm, two inmates escaped from the Stanislaus County Honor Farm located at 8224 W. Grayson Road. The inmates have been identified as 46 year old Many Ros of Modesto and 35 year old Michael Phan of San Jose.
Ros and Phan were seen by two deputies jumping off of the roof of the clothing room at the Honor Farm and the deputies began to chase after them. Both inmates jumped into the San Joaquin River and began to swim across to the other side. Ros was able to swim to the south bank of the San Joaquin River and he was able to get away. Phan had trouble swimming across the river and when he made it to the south bank he became unresponsive.
Deputies immediately called for emergency medical personnel to respond. A Zodiac boat was used by emergency personnel to reach Phan and he was transported to the emergency room for treatment. Phan did not have life threatening injuries and is expected to recover. Sheriff's deputies have been searching for Ros, but have not been able to find him.
Many Ros was in custody for a possession of controlled substance.
