Although the primary spotlight of the results of the 2012 Election focusing on the results of the Presidential Election, many have anxiously awaited the final results on several of the eleven State Propositions that were on the California State Ballot as well.
According to the Secretary of State’s Office, as of 5:34pm on November 7th, with 100% of the precincts partially reported, Proposition 30, the temporary tax initiative to fund education, received 53.9% ‘Yes’ votes, in support of the tax initiative, and 46.1% ‘No’ votes, in opposition to the tax initiative.
A majority of Stanislaus County voters also agreed to support the tax initiative with 51.84% (55,442 votes) supporting the proposition while 48.16% (51,516 votes) were cast in opposition.
Proposition 32, which prohibits unions from using payroll-deducted funds for political purposes, did not pass within the State of California as it received 56.1% of the votes in opposition to the proposition, and 44.4% of the votes were cast in support.
Ballots from Stanislaus County voters showed less opposition but still said ‘No’ to the proposition as 52.02% (55,253 votes) stated ‘No’ and 47.98% (50,970 votes) stated ‘Yes.’
Another hot topic on the ballot was Proposition 37, which would require labeling for genetically engineered foods. With 100% of the precincts partially reporting Statewide, 46.9% of voters supported the proposition, while 53.1% of the voters opposed it.
Proposition 38, tax for education/early childhood programs, received media attention and was considered controversial, however the proposition showed to be clearly opposed by Californians as 72.3% of voters opposed the proposition and only 27.7% supported it.
