Repeat Drunk Driver Arrested After Driving Over Center Median

At about 11:23pm Friday, Turlock Police Officer Rocha made a traffic stop at Lander Avenue and High Street.

Rocha had observed the vehicle driving recklessly against traffic and over the center median while making a turn.

Rocha made contact with and identified the vehicle’s driver as Jesus Cabrera, 22, of Turlock.

When Rocha had his dispatcher run Cabrera, he discovered he had a suspended driver’s license due to excessive blood alcohol.

Cabrera displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence and Rocha observed an open alcohol can in the vehicle that Cabrera tried to hide.

Rocha had to forcefully remove Cabrera from his vehicle because he was trying to make phone calls and being passively resistive.

Cabrera refused to participate in standardized field sobriety tests.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, Rocha determined Cabrera was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.

Cabrera reluctantly chose to provide two breath samples for his chemical test required by California’s implied consent law, stating that when the California Highway Patrol previously arrested him he was only required to blow once.

A second driver’s license suspension order was issued to Cabrera.

Cabrera was released on a citation on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Cabrera’s vehicle was towed.
