At about 9:30pm Wednesday, Turlock Police responded to a shoplift that had just occurred at Walmart in the 2100 block of Fulkerth Road.

The caller was loss prevention who reported that a man had just exited the business with unpaid-for Pokemon trading cards and it was an ongoing issue with him. A last known location and description of the man were provided.

Officer Gursky arrived in the area within minutes and located Christopher Mason, 33, of Gilroy, on Countryside Drive near the business who matched the description.

Mason was detained in handcuffs.

During a subsequent in-field show-up, a witness positively identified Mason as the thief.

Mason was arrested and a search incident to arrest led to the discovery of the stolen trading cards and narcotics.

Mason was released on a citation for petty theft and possession of a controlled substance.
