Man Arrested on Weapon and Narcotic Charges During Traffic Stop

At about 1:11am Tuesday, Turlock Police Officer Nunez made a traffic stop at Quik Stop in the 2400 block of W. Monte Vista Avenue.

Nunez made contact with and identified the vehicle’s driver as Robert Campbell, 36, of Antioch.

Campbell provided Nunez with a story that didn’t match up, stating he was driving the vehicle back to the Bay Area for a relative.

Nunez asked Campbell if he could search his vehicle, and he consented.

During the subsequent consent search, Nunez located a loaded Glock .45cal handgun, a large-capacity magazine, methamphetamines, and drug paraphernalia.

The Glock was determined to be unregistered.

When questioned, Campbell denied any knowledge of the Glock being present in the vehicle, when it was in a spot he should have realized.

Campbell was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a controlled substance while armed, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a large-capacity magazine, possession of methamphetamines, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The vehicle was towed, the Glock was booked into evidence, and Campbell’s dog Rufus was released to someone at Campbell’s request.
