At about 10:10pm Thursday, Turlock Police Officer Rios made a traffic stop at Starr Avenue and Geer Road.

The driver took a while to stop before finally pulling over on the opposite side of the road.

Rios made contact with and identified the vehicle’s driver as Lakhwinder Singh, 41, of Turlock.

While speaking with Lakhwinder, Rios noticed that he was displaying objective symptoms of being under the influence.

Rios removed Lakhwinder from his vehicle and asked if he would participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Lakhwinder agreed and completed the tests, but performed poorly on them.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, Rios determined Lakhwinder was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.

Lakhwinder chose to provide two breath samples at the scene for his required chemical test. The samples indicated a blood alcohol content at or greater than .08%.

Rios issued Lakhwinder a driver’s license suspension order.

Lakhwinder was then booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater.

Lakhwinder’s vehicle was towed away from the scene.
