At about 12:10am Monday, Turlock Police, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to a traffic collision in the 1400 block of Countryside Drive.

The caller reported a pickup truck had crashed into a parked sedan and the driver was unconscious.

When units arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved.

The pickup’s driver was identified as Alfonso Martinez, 37, of Modesto.

Martinez displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence, so officers asked him if he’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests.

Martinez agreed and participated in the tests, but performed poorly on them.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, Officer Ayala determined Martinez was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.

Martinez was issued a driver’s license suspension order and his vehicle was towed.

Martinez was then transported to Doctors Medical Center for medical clearance, before being booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
