Juvenile Probationer Arrested After Leading Officer on Short Pursuit

At about 1:21am Saturday, Turlock Police Officer Marquez attempted to make a traffic stop at Wayside Drive and N. Denair Avenue.

Marquez had observed a vehicle driving in circles as if attempting to do donuts at Wayside Drive and N. Mitchell Avenue.

As Marquez shined his lights on the vehicle, it took off. Marquez made a u-turn and caught up to the vehicle, initiating a pursuit.

The vehicle eventually pulled into an apartment complex in the 100 block of Starr Avenue.

Its driver, a 17-year-old Hispanic boy of Turlock, was held at gunpoint until assisting officers could arrive on scene.

The boy was detained and determined to be unlicensed. He was also on searchable juvenile probation.

During a subsequent probation search of the boy’s vehicle, Marquez located cannabis.

The boy’s vehicle was towed.

The boy was arrested and released to his parents on a citation on charges of possession of cannabis while driving, fleeing from a peace officer by vehicle, and driving without a valid license.
