Repeat Drunk Driver Arrested After Injury Crash

At about 5:06pm Sunday, Turlock Police and University Police responded to a traffic collision at W. Monte Vista Avenue and Dels Lane.

Officers arrived on scene and found three vehicles involved.

One of the involved drivers was identified as Emanoel Agha, 39, of Turlock.

When Officer De La Cruz had his dispatcher run Agha, he discovered he had a suspended driver’s license due to a previous DUI conviction and had two local misdemeanor bench warrants for driving with a suspended license due to a DUI conviction, one $1,020 and the other $1,500.

Another one of the involved drivers suffered minor injuries in the form of arm pain and requested American Medical Response. He was transported to a local hospital.

Agha displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence, so De La Cruz asked him if he’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Agha agreed to and performed poorly on the first two tests, but refused to do the one-leg stand due to a bad knee.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, De La Cruz determined Agha was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.

Agha chose to provide two breath samples for his chemical test required by California’s implied consent law. Additionally, he was issued a driver’s license suspension order and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

After being medically cleared at Doctors Medical Center, Agha was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater causing injury, driving with a restricted driving privilege, and his warrants.
