Man Arrested While Walking Through Cemetery With Loaded Gun

At about 5:24pm Friday, Turlock Police responded to a weapon offense in progress at Turlock Memorial Park in the 500 block of N. Soderquist Road.

The caller was security and reported a man seen walking through the park holding a black and chrome handgun. He also reported the man appeared intoxicated and was holding an open container in his hand.

When officers arrived on scene, they located Turlock Diaz, 28, of San Jose, who matched the provided description. He was detained without incident.

Diaz was found to be in possession of a loaded and unregistered .40 caliber Smith & Wesson SD40 VE.

Additionally, when officers had their dispatcher run Diaz, they discovered he was a convicted felon.

Diaz was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, three counts of carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.
