Drunk Driver Arrested After Rollover Collision While Reportedly Racing

At about 8:39pm Wednesday, Turlock Police, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to a traffic collision with injuries in the 300 block of Clifford Avenue.

Two vehicles were reportedly trying to race, and one hit several parked vehicles, causing it to flip.

When units arrived on scene, they found four vehicles involved, one on its side.

Only the rolled vehicle had been occupied. Its driver, later identified as Hector Reynoso, 42, of Turlock, suffered minor injuries and refused to be transported to the hospital.

All four vehicles had to be towed away from the scene.

While speaking with Reynoso, officers noticed he was displaying objective symptoms of being under the influence, so they asked him if he’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. He refused.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers determined Reynoso was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.

Reynoso chose to provide two breath samples for his chemical test required by California’s implied consent law. The samples revealed he had a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater. Additionally, he was issued a driver’s license suspension order and his vehicle was towed.

After being medically cleared, Reynoso was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater, and possession of a controlled substance.

The driver that Reynoso was racing was identified.
