At about 4:51pm Sunday, Turlock Police, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to an aggravated assault that had just occurred at a residence in the 400 block of Locust Street.

Officers arrived on scene and found a 17-year-old Hispanic male of Turlock with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his hand. He was transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital.

Officers remained on scene, gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses.

So far, the investigation has revealed that a group of subjects walking down Locust started a verbal disturbance with a group of subjects at the residence. During the disturbance, baseball bats were thrown, and then shots were fired by the group walking down the street.

The group that fired the shots fled westbound on Vermont Avenue on foot and wasn’t able to be located. They were reportedly dressed in all black.

The prior Monday, we reported on a drive-by shooting that had occurred at Locust Street and Castor Street. During that incident, a 19-year-old victim had suffered a non-life-threatening injury to his right leg.

“Both shootings involved victims that are known to each other,” said Sergeant Inderbitzen. “Investigators are currently working to determine any possible connections between the two incidents.”

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist is encouraged to call Officer Becerra at 209-668-1200.
