When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a vegetation fire that had extended to several vehicles, including an RV, and an outbuilding.
Firefighters immediately began fire attack in the defensive strategy, bringing the fire under control within an hour and a half.
Two firefighters, one with Turlock Rural Fire and another with Stanislaus Consolidated Fire, were injured during the incident and transported to the hospital. They were treated and released the same day.
“He is now home resting and will return to work in a few days,” said Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Battalion Chief Tucker, referring to their firefighter. We reached out to Turlock Rural Fire inquiring about their firefighter as well but didn’t receive a response at the time of this writing.
Crews remained on scene for an extended period of time conducting investigation, overhaul, salvage, and other post-fire activities.
The Turlock Irrigation District and Pacific Gas and Electric Company also responded to the scene to secure utilities, while Modesto Fire provided city coverage for the duration of the incident.
One occupant was displaced as a result of the fire.
Other than the two firefighters, no one else was injured. Turlock Police’s Animal Services Unit responded to check on a nearby horse, who turned out to be fine.
In total, 23 vehicles, including an RV, and one outbuilding were either damaged or destroyed by the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
