At about 1:06pm Sunday, Turlock Police responded to a suspicious person at Kohl’s in the 2700 block of Countryside Drive.

The caller was loss prevention, stating that a woman was inside the store concealing Sephora items in her purse. She then stated there was another woman with her.

Officers arrived on scene and located a vehicle in the parking lot which was associated with the two.

After a few minutes of surveilling the vehicle, the two returned to their vehicle with unpaid merchandise and officers moved in to detain them.

The two were identified as Vanessa Reed, 36, of Atwater, and her 17-year-old daughter.

Both Reed and her daughter were arrested and released on citations on the charge of petty theft.
