At about 1:05am Monday morning, Turlock Police, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to an assault and battery in progress at Arco AMPM in the 200 block of N. Golden State Boulevard.
The caller reported that two men were fighting in the parking lot of the gas station, and that one of the men had lifted the other and threw him on the ground.
As officers arrived on scene, the man who was on the ground got up and started running. He was contacted nearby.
Other officers contacted the other man who was still at the gas station.
Both men were identified, including Amori Ameral, 22, of Winton.
Turlock Fire and AMR checked out Ameral, however, he didn’t want to go with them.
Neither of the men wanted anything done about the fight, however, officers didn’t feel comfortable releasing them both to be together again. Ameral was intoxicated, so he was arrested.
Ameral was placed in the back of a patrol vehicle and an officer began transporting him to jail, but he had to stop due to Ameral kicking the patrol vehicle’s windows and hitting his head against the plastic partition.
Other officers arrived where Ameral was and assisted with placing him in a WRAP restraint device and protective helmet, to prevent him from hurting himself or damaging the patrol vehicle.
Fortunately, there was no damage to the patrol vehicle.
Ameral was then placed back into the patrol vehicle and transported to jail without further incident.
Ameral was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of disorderly conduct.
