At about 11:22pm Saturday night, Turlock Police responded to a suspicious person at Seaborg Street and Sunset Drive.

The caller reported that a man possibly had a hammer and appeared to have been using it to damage a vehicle. He was last seen westbound on Seaborg Street towards Dels Lane and was described to be wearing a red hoodie and a backpack.

Officer Rocha arrived in the area a few minutes later and observed someone wearing a black hoodie and gray skinny jeans jump a fence into the backyard of a residence in the 2900 block of Hughes Court.

A vehicle was then found to have damage to its window in the 600 block of Seaborg Street, so a perimeter was set up.

Officers cleared the backyard into which someone had been seen jumping a fence and located a red backpack containing a rock. It’s likely that the original red hoodie description was supposed to be a red backpack and that both descriptions were the same person.

A police drone was then flown overhead while officers continued to hold perimeter positions and clear backyards, but were unable to locate anyone.

The perimeter was eventually broken down and officers cleared the area.

About an hour later, at 12:50am, police received a call from someone who had seen our social media advisory reporting that someone matching the description was walking eastbound on Gettysburg Street towards Andre Lane.

Officers arrived in the area within minutes of the call and detained the subject near Andre Lane and Georgetown Avenue.

The detainee was identified as Dominick Lee, 18, of Turlock. He was discovered to be on probation for auto theft and stated that he had just gotten out of jail.

Turlock City News had previously reported on what Lee was on probation for. On November 8th, he had stolen his mother’s boyfriend’s vehicle and led police on a pursuit in it. Lee eventually stopped when he realized he wasn’t going to get away and was arrested on an array of charges.

Through the investigation, Lee was able to be linked to the vandalism and was found to have a knife concealed on his person readily being available to be used as a stabbing weapon.

Lee was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of carrying a concealed dirk or dagger, vandalism, and obstructing or resisting a public officer.
