On Friday, October 14th, 2022, at 1:25 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of N Thor St and E Main St, Turlock, noticed a suspicious person which he recognized as a man responsible for an arson that he had investigated a week prior, so he got out with him.

The officer identified the man as Travis Arnett, 44, of Turlock, and had his dispatcher run him.

Arnett returned with three local $1,000 misdemeanor bench warrants. The first one was for possession of methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia, the second one was for possession of methamphetamines, and the third one was for possession of a stun gun by a convicted felon, person convicted of an assault crime, or person convicted of misuse of a stun gun.

Arnett was arrested and a search incident to arrest led to the discovery of additional methamphetamines.

The officer questioned Arnett about the arson and was able to get a confession out of him, however, Arnett claimed that it was an accident. Video, however, showed that it was not an accident and it was definitely intentional. It should be noted that Arnett was also wearing some of the same clothing as he was when he lit the fire.

Arnett was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of arson and possession of methamphetamines, as well as his warrants.

The fire that Arnett had set had occurred on Friday, October 7th, at LOZA Wine and Crepes, 601 E Main St. It was a small debris fire in the businesses’ outside dining area that had been lit at about 5:04 am. The Turlock Fire Department had responded and quickly extinguished the fire before it spread to anything.
