On April 26, 2011, the Turlock City Council accepted the offer of a $40,000 donated play structure from the California Milk Processors and Sunnyside Farms; now volunteers are being sought to help install it on Saturday morning.
The 1994 play structure at Bristol Park was in need of replacing and has recently been removed, preparing for a new Progressive Design Playgrounds play structure.
The new play structure is made from recycled milk jugs and the purchase of the play structure is part of the California Milk Processors commitment to reducing their impact on the environment, as they selected multiple communities throughout California to install them in.
The fiscal impact of the project to the City is minimal, only requiring City Staff oversight. The California Milk Processors and Sunnyside Farms each donated $20,000 for the play structure; the equipment will be installed by technical staff provided by Progressive Designs and volunteer work from Sunnyside Farms employees.
At the Turlock City Council Meeting on Tuesday night; Turlock Parks, Recreation and Facilities Manager Allison Van Guilder encouraged those of the community who would like to volunteer to come out and help.
The installation will begin at 7am and will conclude with a ribbon cutting at 4pm.
Van Guilder said that in exchange for volunteering, Sunnyside Farms would be providing a free barbeque lunch.
Bristol Park is located at 2500 Castleview Drive, between N. Quincy Road and N. Daubenberger Road, in Turlock.
