Psychology graduate student Heather M. Adams won first place in the psychology section and $500 for her presentation about casual sex and long-term relationships entitled “What’s so casual about it?”
Education graduate students Steve Charbonneau and Kay Vang received second place in the education section and $250 for their project “Student achievement in California two-way immersion programs.”
Seven CSU Stanislaus students participated in the competition, which took place between April 30 and May 1. Other students included: Psychology graduate student Joseph E. Gonzales; Chemistry undergraduate Evan Parker; Psychology undergraduate Emily Mall, and Psychology undergraduate Ashley Amador.
This system-wide competition promotes excellence in undergraduate and graduate scholarly research by recognizing outstanding student accomplishments throughout the twenty-three campuses of the California State University. It showcases excellent research conducted by CSU undergraduate and graduate students in the full range of academic programs offered by the CSU. Student participants make oral presentations before juries of professional experts from major corporations, foundations, public agencies, colleges and universities in California.
