Turlock Police Arrest Suspect on Rape Charges

Turlock police arrested a male suspect on May 6 after an alleged rape at a Turlock motel, according to the Turlock Police Department.

Edward Collin Taylor Jr., 35, was arrested for rape, sodomy, false imprisonment.

On May 6, the female victim went to an area hospital and reported the alleged rape, which occurred at the Venice Motel, located at 1114 N. Golden State Blvd.

Detectives responded and through the course of the investigation identified Taylor as the suspect, said Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb.

Taylor was arrested and booked for the above charges upon being located.

In 2012, Taylor was placed on probation after he plead no contest to the charge of wilful cruelty to a child causing injury and/or death. Since then, Taylor has racked up numerous probation violations, according to Stanislaus County Court records.

On April 19, 2014, Taylor was arrested by Turlock police following a foot pursuit. Taylor, who was wanted for a parole violation at the time, ran when he saw officers near the intersection of N. Palm Street and Wayside Drive. The suspect was ultimately apprehended and arrested for resisting arrest, possession of heroin and a parole violation.
