A male subject armed with a knife was arrested Wednesday morning for attempting to steal cigarettes from a Turlock gas station.
Justin Rocha, 20, was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.
According to Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis, Rocha walked into the AMPM on the corner of Golden State Boulevard and Olive Avenue just before 5:30 a.m. and asked the clerk for cigarettes.
When the clerk placed the cigarettes on the counter, Rocha showed the clerk a knife he had in his waistband of his pants and said he was going to take the cigarettes.
The clerk called 911 and Turlock police responded to the gas station.
Officers located and contacted Rocha outside of the business. After investigation, officers took the suspect into custody.
