The California High Patrol is currently investigating a fatal collision involving a 52-year-old male at the intersection of Gratton and Tuolumne roads, just outside of Turlock.
The collision was reported to CHP at approximately 1:52 p.m. after a pickup truck collided into a boulder and tree at a high-rate of speed.
According to CHP Officer Chuck Leon, the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Tuolumne Road.
Witnesses told CHP that the driver continued at a high-rate of speed toward the intersection and did not touch their brakes as the vehicle collided into the tree.
The driver did not stop at the stop sign, according to Leon.
Upon arrival, emergency services declared the driver deceased at the scene.
The collision is still under active investigation.
While CHP officers investigate the scene, eastbound traffic at Tuolumne Road and traffic in both directions on Gratton is closed.
