Turlock police were involved in a high speed pursuit of a wanted suspect shortly after noon on Thursday, but the suspect was able to successfully evade officers.
Officers first made contact with the suspect at 12:19 p.m. on the 600 block of Ninth Street, near Lander Avenue.
According to Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis, the officer had seen who they believed was a known wanted suspect.
When attempting to contact the suspect, he fled in a vehicle and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit traveled east toward Golf Road before reaching Highway 99. While on the highway, speeds reached up to 100 mph, said Lewis.
Officers lost the suspect on Highway 99 and remains at large.
The suspect’s name is not being released at this time.
