Parolee Lurking in Turlock Neighborhood with Handgun

Turlock police arrested a parolee allegedly in possession of a handgun after a witness saw him lurking around the garage of a Turlock residence on Tuesday night.

According to the Turlock Police Department, a suspect was allegedly seen with a handgun around the garage of a residence on the 100 block of Sunday Drive at approximately 8:42 p.m.

As officers responded to the area, the witness reported that the suspect was fleeing in a silver vehicle.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle on Taylor Road a short distance away and made a high-risk stop near Walnut Road and Estrella Way, said Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

Miguel Penaloza, 29, who is on active parole, was contacted by officers during the stop. A search revealed a .40 caliber handgun in the vehicle.

Penaloza was arrested and booked for felon in possession of a loaded firearm, parole violation, and driving on a suspended driver’s license.
