Water Shoots Into Air, Floods Street Following Fire Hydrant Accident

Submitted/TurlockCityNews.com

On Saturday morning, a car hit a fire hydrant outside of Monte Vista Chapel sending water gushing into the air.

At approximately 8:35 a.m., a red car collided with a fire hydrant on Berkeley Avenue.

According to Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Russell Holeman, the accident was minor and there were no injuries.

The accident did however send water shooting out of the hydrant and into the sky, causing a portion of the street to flood.

The driver did not flee the scene after the accident, said Holeman.

In August, there were four accidents in the same week where fire hydrants had been destroyed, including one that caused $50,000 in damage to a Turlock home.
