The 40th Annual Turkey Trot was held Saturday at Turlock’s Donnelly Park with more than 270 participants despite rainy weather.
There were two events, a 1-mile children’s stampede for children ages 12 and under and a 2-mile fun run or walk for adults and children age 13 and up.The Trot was open to anyone wishing to participate not just competitive runners.
“It is a great local event the weekend before Thanksgiving for families who want to get out and do things together,” said event organizer and Recreation Senior Supervisor of Turlock Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities, Mark Crivelli.
For the 2-mile trot, Harrison Moore came in first place with a time of 12:25, followed by Jared England at 12:30, and Jack Wooley at 12:33.
In the 2-mile trot, across the various age groups, Harrison Moore, Megan Drew, William Arsenio, Claire Jenkins, Miguel Pacheco, Jennifer Trimble-Christopher, Stuart Wooley, Jennifer Hanshaw, Greg Dudley, and Susan Dudley came in first place.
First place winners across various age groups in the 1-mile children’s stampede were Alvaro Alvarez, Fatima Garcia, Alejay Cervantes, Evelyn Vargas, Calvin Dorsey, Haylee Sousa, Anthony Frias, and Katia Guerrero.
Shirts were given to participants, and prizes were awarded to winners of different divisions, and per Turkey Trot tradition, the prizes included frozen chickens, turkeys, flats of eggs and pumpkin pies. There was also a raffle with various prizes for all participants.
The Turlock Radio Club and Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS) assisted as volunteers during the Trot.
Donnelly Park was full of families and individuals who gathered to participate in the 40-year tradition.
