20-Mile High-Speed Pursuit Leads to Arrest at Patel Palms Apartments

California Highway Patrol apprehended a man on Friday evening who was allegedly involved in the March 20 Patel Palms Apartment standoff.

According to Merced CHP spokesperson Sgt. Shane McConnell, the chase began when CHP officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the suspect Friday evening. He was allegedly speeding northbound on Highway 99 near Livingston at the time.

The suspect fled, and CHP initiated a pursuit. The pursuit continued northbound on Highway 99 until the suspected exited on Lander Avenue and headed east.

The pursuit continued through town at a high rate of speed before it was cancelled due to dangers of speed.

The suspect then continued through town where he allegedly collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Hawkeye and Olive avenues.

The suspect allegedly fled the scene of the accident and headed to the Patel Palms Apartments.

The Turlock Police Department assisted the CHP and gave an address to find the suspect. Authorities arrived and subsequently apprehended the suspect.

Dominique Lane, 26, was arrested for felony evading and hit-and-run, said McConnell.

The arrest came to relief of many tenants of the Patel Palms, who cheered as he was taken away.

Some tenants called the suspect a “nuisance,” among other things.

The Patel Palms Apartments are located on the corner of Hawkeye Avenue and Palm Street.
