Eggman Claims Denham has “Chronic Absenteeism” from Committee Meetings

Eggman Claims Denham has “Chronic Absenteeism” from Committee Meetings TurlockCityNews.com
On Wednesday, candidate for the 10th District U.S. Representative seat, Michael Eggman (D), called on U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) to “explain his chronic absenteeism from the committees on which he is tasked to serve.”

According to Eggman, Denham missed 39 percent of his Veterans Affairs committee hearings and 70 percent of hearings on both the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and Natural Resources Committee.

"From missing pertinent committee hearings to repeatedly protecting his own perks of office, it's clear that Jeff Denham's time in Congress has been about serving Jeff Denham, not about serving our veterans, working people, and the Central Valley families he was elected to represent," said Michael Eggman. "It's outrageous that Congressman Denham would rather vote to shutdown the government than to show up to work."

Only those meetings during the 112th Congress, between Jan. 3, 2011 and Jan. 3, 2013, were listed by Eggman; the latest meeting missed by Denham, according to the release by Eggman, was on Nov. 28, 2012.

"Jeff Denham would rather schmooze with special interests and smoke cigars with other career politicians than do his most basic job,” said Eggman. “As a farmer, I know that just like my neighbors, if I don't do my job, I don't get paid. Yet, we're paying our current Congressman a six-figure taxpayer funded salary when he doesn't even bother coming to work. With a record like that, it's no wonder Jeff Denham refuses to debate me. We deserve better than an absentee Congressman and I am ready to serve Central Valley residents by injecting some responsibility and common sense leadership back into Washington."

Eggman also brought up Denham's alleged refusal to participate in five debates with Eggman after the original challenge was made in June.

Mr Eggman, please have you sign installers relocate your sign at the south east driveway of the Turlock Costco. Your sign is blocking the clear vision of cars traveling north on Tegner when coming out of the parking lot.

Denham's voting record was much worse when he "served" in the state Senate. I'm sure the Turlock Journal will do a story on how many times Denham didn't show up! I'm sure he still took his daily $$.

We are wondering if Denham's campaign staff understands one must receive PERMISSION from the property owner before putting up campaign signs. Why are they all over Stanislaus County on railroad property, my neighbor on Monte Vista has called...

We are wondering if Denham's campaign staff understands one must receive PERMISSION from the property owner before putting up campaign signs. Why are they all over Stanislaus County on railroad property, my neighbor on Monte Vista has called twice to ask them to take down a sign on his property! I guess "certain" people don't have to follow the rules!
