Micaela J. Hernandez
Sep 1923 ~ Dec 2014

Celebration of Life Mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hilmar on Tuesday, Dec. 30th at 10 am. Burial to follow at N. Hilmar Cemetery.

Micaela J. Hernandez went home to be with the Lord. Mickey, as she was known by her family and friends, was born in El Paso, Texas to Jose and Benita Jimenez. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Frank Perez, her second husband Augustine Hernandez of 24 years, and her children Anita Perez, Eddie Perez, and Helen Ramirez. Mickey is survived by her son Andrew (Mary) Perez, daughter Mary (Don) Gonzales, son Frank Perez Jr., daughter Carol (Forrest) Moore, and daughter Clara (Phillip) Broberg.

Frank and Mickey married in 1942 and settled in Hilmar in 1957, where they ran the family trucking and wood cutting business. Mickey remarried Augustine Hernandez of Yuma, Arizona in 1988 until his death in October 2012. They were long time members of Holy Rosary Church.

Mickey was a homemaker, helped with the family business, and had a short career working alongside Augustine in the melon packing shed in Firebaugh. One of Mickey’s biggest passions was having her family gather at her home to eat, laugh, and enjoy family time. Hanging in her kitchen was a sign that read “Grandma’s kitchen, love served here daily”. Mickey served many meals to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. Everyone was welcomed.
