George Otis Dudley
April 1934 - April 18, 2014

George Otis Dudley 80, died peacefully in his sleep on Good Friday April 18, at Turlock Nursing Center after suffering the long illness of Alzheimer's disease. He was born April 1934 In Lanham, MD to Howard Elton and Mary Lane Dudley (nee Gillogly). He attended schools mostly in Southern California where he was extremely active and successful on high school baseball and basketball teams. He served two years in the Army. At San Jose State College he played on the baseball team. He came to Brown/Turlock Jr High School where he taught mostly Physical Education until his retirement in 1998 after 37 years.

He always felt that he had the best job in the world and thoroughly enjoyed his teaching, coaching and after-school sport activities with his students.

Away from school he played tennis and softball on area teams and, enjoying many minor sports, was a worthy competitor. He passed on his affinity for sports to his children and they had good times together along with the many camping trips, and family reunions. He was the best husband and father in all ways and we are so thankful he was ours.

George leaves his wife of 53 years, Mary, and children Lisa (Jay) Thorseth, Greg (Susie), Tom, Peggy (Tom) Clark, Dennis (Nadine), and grandchildren Will, Peter, and Megan Thorseth, Patrick and Brian Dudley, Molly, Maureen, Richard, Sean, and Harry Clark, and MaryAnn, Joe, Matt, Teresa, Thomas, John, and Paul Dudley. God Bless Coach Dudley, he was a great teacher and motivator. He was my P.E. coach at Brown School in the late 60's. I wasn't much of an athlete , but he was always there to encourage me.

He would proudly boast when I made progress. I remember when my football team (in class) was playing and I made a long bomb catch...he called me twinkle toes Khinoo. Just something like a small uplifting comment made a big difference in my life, that's what Coach Dudley was all about about. I can't wait to play touch football in Heaven with you Coach Dudley!
