Over the last decade, over 140 cities and/or counties in California have passed policies that prohibit smoking at city parks and public events. The City of Turlock may soon join the ranks of those cities to take tobacco control measures and encourage smoke-free public parks.

The Parks, Recreation & Community Programs Commission will be meeting on Wednesday, January 9th, 2013 at 6pm. The meeting will be held at City Hall, located at 156 S. Broadway in Turlock.

Turlock Police Department responded to the area of S. Berkeley, just south of East Avenue, on a report of a possible burglary in progress on Friday, December 7th. Sergeant Anthony Silva, along with other Turlock Police Department officers, responded to the location. Sergeant Silva arrived to the location first and located two unknown subjects. As Sergeant Silva waited for back up units, an uninvolved vehicle suddenly struck him.

Tuesday evening, the Turlock City Council approved to move forward with seeking professional consulting services to assist in the preparation of a Water Rate Study. This analysis, once conducted, could result in water rate increases for the residents of Turlock.

In April 2012, the Turlock Planning Commission held a public hearing to consider a Minor Discretionary Permit to fill the vacancy at 2480 Geer Road, the old Mervyn’s building.

On Tuesday, January 8th, the Turlock City Council of Turlock will be holding their first meeting of the 2013 year at 7pm at City Hall, located at 156 S. Broadway.
The Turlock Unified School District (TUSD) Board of Trustees will be meeting on Tuesday, January 8th, 2013, at 6:30pm for their first regularly scheduled meeting of the new calendar year. The meeting will be held at the TUSD Professional Development Center, located at 1100 Cahill Avenue in Turlock.
