Turlock Wrestling Club needs the help of supporters and the community in the next 9 days. Turlock Wrestling is looking to the community to help them earn one of ten $2,500 grants from the Liberty Mutual Insurance Play Positive Pledge. The pledge is part of a program celebrating good sportsmanship in youth sports.
The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees approved the Wireless/Fiber proposal through a unanimous vote on Tuesday evening. The approval allows the project to begin the design phase, create timetables, and develop Request for Proposals for Board approval. The January 2014 audit results/recommendations report presented options such as upgrades to the Wide Area Network to allow for future 10 Gb/s connectivity, an upgrade to switches with “Power over Ethernet” capability, an increase to 1 Gb/s in internet connectivity, an upgrade to fiber connections and ethernet cabling connections, and the addition of a centrally-managed wireless network. 
The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees will be holding a meeting to discuss the approval of the Technology Network Upgrade Project, various donations to school activities and the TUSD farm, out-of-state trips, and adopt a resolution to support Red Ribbon Week. At 6 p.m., opening business will begin with the public meeting being called to order. Afterward, the Board will have convene in a closed session until 6:30 p.m.

Pro-life Advocates Hit the Streets in Turlock

Community church members were organized by Ron Visco to advocate alternatives to abortion and promote the “pro-life” perspective. Ron Visco was the coordinator of the gathering. He noted that this was a coalition of various churches in the area.

This year will mark the 25th anniversary of the U.S. Congress establishing the first full week in October as Mental Health Awareness Week. The National Alliance for Mental Illness helped pushed for this week’s recognition, and this year’s dates will fall from October 4 to October 10. The Each Mind Matters Campaign is encouraging people to vocalize their support for mental health awareness and Each Mind Matters Campaign with their county board of supervisors. 
California State University, Stanislaus has released its annual Campus Security Report that includes data showing sharp increases in reports of forcible sexual offenses and liquor law violations. The Federal requirements are changing in the way that universities are addressing sexual violence. More groups and resources are being directed toward anti-violence education, and reporting requirements have also seen change.

Rare Site of Rain in Turlock During Drought

Although short lived for periods of time, the rain on Thursday was exciting for Turlockers. It has been an unfamiliar site this year for residents to walk outside and see wet streets and lawns. Many people posted to social media regarding the rain. Turlock Irrigation District’s Canal Drive weather station reported that the rain accumulated 0.07 inches of water by early afternoon.
