Chester Walter Chimel Obituary

Chester Walter Chimel Obituary: Jul. 20, 1927 – Mar. 29, 2013  - Chester Walter Chimel, 85 of Turlock, passed away on March 29, 2013. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church and has resided in Turlock for almost 30 years.
The old cheese facility next to Evergreen Packaging (formerly the International Paper facility) on West Main Street is on fire.
Traffic Advisory: People may want to avoid the Christoffersen and N. Olive intersection if they can. A major vehicle accident leaving one car rolled over took place this morning at approximately 10am. It's unclear at this time regarding the condition of those involved.
Due to a public safety emergency, North Olive between Tuolumne Road and Hawkeye Avenue is closed at Emanuel Medical Center. More information to be released by Turlock Police and Emanuel Medical Center soon.
Tonight at approximately 5:35pm, two inmates escaped from the Stanislaus County Honor Farm located at 8224 W. Grayson Road. The inmates have been identified as 46 year old Many Ros of Modesto and 35 year old Michael Phan of San Jose.

The Turlock City Council will hold their regularly scheduled City Council Meeting at Turlock City Hall on Tuesday at 7pm. The meeting agenda includes a City Staff request to accept the Municipal Services Department Annual Report for 2011-12 and direct staff to obtain proposals for professional consulting services to assist in the preparation of a water rate study.

Turlock Police are still looking for the driver who fled the scene of a collision that killed an 18 year old female passenger. Police are reaching out to the public in hopes of locating the suspected driver by releasing photographs from surveillance video.

Hit and Run Suspect Caught by Turlock Police

Early this morning, at about 7am, Turlock Police responded to a reported injury accident in the 1400 Block of W. Main Street at N. Tully Road. When they arrived, officers found a 41 year old male motorcyclist in the middle of the road after being involved in a collision.
