McCorkell is an experienced journalist with a strong dedication to community news.

He began his journalism career in 2005 with the U.S. Navy, graduating from the Department of Defense Information School in Fort Meade, Maryland. He served three additional years as a Navy Journalist Petty Officer 3rd Class at Navy Region Southwest in San Diego.

Following his enlistment he has worked at several newspapers and covered a variety of beats including education, city government, sports, agriculture and human interest.

McCorkell graduated magna cum laude from Fresno Pacific University and holds his bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts.

McCorkell and his wife Elizabeth were both raised in the Sacramento area. They have three children: Caitlyn, 8, and twins Grace and Nolan, both 7.

One of the most prominent fears amongst children is losing a loved one. For children with a parent or family member diagnosed with cancer, life can be very scary. Beginning July 8 Emanuel Medical Center will be expanding an already existing support group for children who have a family member with cancer, known as Monkey Business.
