San Francisco 49ers quarterback and Turlock native, Colin Kaepernick, has taken to Instagram after hearing of the killing of a man outside of a Louisiana convenience store. On Tuesday, July 5, around 12:35 a.m., Baton Rouge Police Department responded to a disturbance call from a person claiming to be threatened with a gun by a black man selling CD’s.
NJROTC’s field meet has many different events, such as basketball, combat dodgeball, softball, a sea perch, brain brawls, and navy seal physical training challenges. Most of these events differ drastically from typical high school sports. “I like the fact that it’s harder,” said Sam Navarrete, a Turlock NJROTC cadet. “It involves more energy and stuff. It differs from everything. It makes you stand out a lot. When people ask you ‘how do you do it?’ it’s nothing that’s impossible.”
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick had not thrown an interception in five straight starts, until last Sunday’s 47-7 loss against the Arizona Cardinals, in Glendale, Ariz. Kaepernick threw four interceptions, a career-worst, and the Cardinals capitalized on this. Kaepernick had a streak of 141 consecutive passing attempts. That ended when his first pass didn’t end up in the hands his receiver, but rather was caught by the Cardinals’ defensive back Justin Bethel. Minutes later, he threw another interception that was returned for a touchdown.
The NFL Players Association has announced that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick ranked second among all players in merchandise sales during the first sales quarter. Kaepernick, a Turlock native, was ranked only behind New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady during the sales quarter.

Modesto Junior College has named Rusty Stivers as the Head Football Coach for 2015. “MJC’s offense is one of the most explosive in the state. Rusty had to adapt, improvise and overcome last season with four different starting quarterbacks and still averaged 458 yards per game – 6th in the state,” said MJC Interim Athletic Director Nick Stavrianoudakis. “He comes highly recommended by local high school coaches, former college coaches and even opposing coaches.”
After 23 years of service, Jan Schefkowitz, the winningest and longest tenure softball coach at California State University, Stanislaus has that she will retire at the end of this academic year.
