McMillan is Turlock born and bred. More than that, he's a skilled journalist.

McMillan graduated magna cum laude from California State University, Stanislaus, where he majored in Communication Studies and minored in Journalism.

While at CSU Stanislaus, McMillan was a managing editor, op-ed editor, and staff writer for the student newspaper, The Signal. He also volunteers as an on-air radio DJ for the student radio station, KCSS 91.9FM.

In his spare time, McMillan plays bass guitar and collects records.

Monte Vista Avenue will be closed between Geer and Crowell roads from 6 to 11 p.m. on July 4 for the fireworks event to be held at California State University, Stanislaus. Additionally, there will be no street parking along Monte Vista Avenue, or Crowell and Geer roads during the event. Parking will be free on campus and can be accessed at Dels Lane, Geer Road, Crowell Road, and Christoffersen Parkway.

Suspects Punch, Rob Female Victim

The Turlock Police Department is looking for two male suspects who attacked and robbed a female victim early on June 27. The robbery was reported at approximately 3:05 a.m. in the 1300 block of Shady Lane.
After rolling his vehicle early on Saturday, a driver gave a false stolen vehicle report to Turlock police. Shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday, a driver was traveling northbound in the 1400 block of West Avenue South when he rolled his vehicle and went through a fence, said Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb.
Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, in association with the California Office of Traffic Safety, will be out in force, cracking down on impaired drivers with DUI saturation patrols in time for the upcoming Independence Day holiday weekend. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department is prepared to stop and arrest any drunk driver they see to keep roads safe. Deputies have received specialized training for which will help them identify and remove persons under the influence of drugs or alcohol from local roadways.
The Turlock Police Department is reporting that a late-night shooting has left one 22-year-old man dead. Turlock police received 911 calls of a drive-by shooting in the 1100 block of Baywood Lane at approximately 11:40 p.m. Thursday. Reports said at least one person was down in the yard.
The Turlock Fire Department is battling a large fire at a house in the 2000 block of Royal Wood Lane. As of 5:45 p.m., the fire appears to be contained, but the fire department remains on scene for overhaul.

New Taco Bell in North Turlock is Open

The controversial new Taco Bell located on the corner of Golden State Boulevard and Roberts Road officially opened this month. The restaurant, located at 3606 N. Golden State Blvd., has been under construction for months and now becomes the third Taco Bell in town.

Turlock Men Arrested for Pharmacy Robberies

Three Turlock men are facing armed robbery charges in connection with robberies at pharmacies in Planada and Delhi. The robberies occurred at pharmacies in Planada on May 21 and Delhi on June 18, said Merced County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Delray Shelton.
Motorists should be advised of a grass fire on the shoulder of southbound Highway 99 near Lander Avenue. The fire was reported just after 6:30 p.m. on the right hand shoulder just south of the Lander Avenue exit.
Despite auto thefts dropping for the second consecutive year, Stanislaus County still remains a hot spot for the crime, according to a report from the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB). According to the report, the Modesto-Metropolitan area — which includes all of Stanislaus County, including Turlock — there were 3,047 auto thefts in 2014.
