McMillan is Turlock born and bred. More than that, he's a skilled journalist.

McMillan graduated magna cum laude from California State University, Stanislaus, where he majored in Communication Studies and minored in Journalism.

While at CSU Stanislaus, McMillan was a managing editor, op-ed editor, and staff writer for the student newspaper, The Signal. He also volunteers as an on-air radio DJ for the student radio station, KCSS 91.9FM.

In his spare time, McMillan plays bass guitar and collects records.

Killed Cyclist Identified

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified the bicyclist killed in a Monday evening accident as Jose Borges, 39, of Hilmar.Borges was hit and killed Monday evening while riding westbound on Fulkerth Road near Bystrum Road in Turlock. Borges was riding in the westbound lane, when Diane Medina, 34, driving a 2010 GMC, collided with Borges, throwing him off his bicycle and to the shoulder of the road.
The Alliance Small Business Development Center was presented with a $50,000 Rural Investment for Sustainable Economies grant from Wells Fargo during the Alliance Board of Directors meeting held Monday.The RISE grant allows the Alliance SBDC to provide 150 business owners living in rural areas of Stanislaus and Merced counties with technical assistance, one-on-one professional business consulting and training seminars at no cost. The Alliance will focus on assisting Hispanic business owners with the grant funding.

Cyclist Hit, Killed in Turlock

A male bicyclist was hit and killed on Fulkerth Road just east of Bystrum Road in Turlock at approximately 6:10 p.m. Monday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the cyclist, whose name is being withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin, was riding westbound in the westbound lane of Fulkerth Road, near the edge of the road, wearing a black sweatshirt and jeans.

Turlock Car Thieves Nabbed

Scott Johnson, 34, was arrested for auto theft on Friday at the intersection of Broadway and C Street in Turlock, according to the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force. Johnson was also arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, driving on a suspended license, possession of burglary tools and violation of parole.
Turlock police engaged in a high-speed chase with three men in stolen vehicle Monday morning, ultimately arresting the men on numerous felony drug, weapon, and parole violations. Joseph Walker, 34, of Modesto, was arrested for possession of heroin and methamphetamine, possession of an ASP baton, possession of brass knuckles, possession of stolen property, violating probation, five outstanding warrants and attempting to smuggle methamphetamine into the jail during booking, Turlock Police Lt. Ron Reid said.

Car on Tracks Snarls Traffic on Monte Vista

Around 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, a black Cadillac was stuck on the railroad crossing at the intersection of Monte Vista Avenue and Golden State Boulevard, slowing down traffic in the eastbound lane.
