The Turlock High School Band will hold their Winter Concert this Thursday, Dec. 11, at 7:00 p.m. in the Snider Recital Hall at California State University, Stanislaus. There will be three THS ensembles featured in the concert including the award winning jazz band, as well as symphonic and concert bands featuring a culmination of students’ efforts throughout the fall semester.
Looks like Santa will be coming a little early this year and bringing all of his eggnog drinking friends for the Santa Pub Crawl. On Saturday, Dec. 13 the Fourth Annual Santa Pub Crawl will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at drinking establishments in Downtown Turlock, such as Red Brick Bar & Grill, The Vintage Lounge & Piano Bar, Jura’s Pizza Parlor and Staley’s to benefit the Salvation Army of Turlock.
Despite more than a dozen women having publicly accused 77-year-old comedian Bill Cosby of sexual assault and rape in previous decades, the show, according to Turlock Community Theatre (TCT), must go on. Cosby is scheduled to perform at the TCT Jan. 18. A representative from the theatre said that the show is sold out and will take place Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
Hours before the Turlock Downtown Christmas Parade begins, Main Street is already lined with hundreds of chairs as people begin to stake their spot along the parade route. Some chairs have been placed since early this morning, but the droves of chairs have multiplied since Main Street closed at 1 p.m.
Lights, camera — Christmas! Groups and families are invited to the newly-themed “A Box Office Christmas” parade. The 36th Annual Turlock Downtown Christmas Parade, taking place at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 5, will begin at Canal Street travel down historic Main Street.
Here comes Santa Claus — riding on a fire truck. Beginning on Dec. 1, Santa — with the help of Turlock Firefighters Local #2434 — will be riding through Turlock neighborhoods to wish area residents a Merry Christmas.
The 16th Annual Turlock Festival of Lights aims to provide Turlockers with an evening of lights, shopping and fun for all ages on Black Friday. Taking place on Friday, Nov. 28 from 5 to 9 p.m., the festival will consist of its customary countdown to lighting the Christmas tree in Central Park in addition to a scavenger hunt that’s unique to this year’s event.
