Although Love Turlock is right around the corner on May 2, there’s still some time to sign-up for one of the several community projects still looking for additional volunteers. Love Turlock began in 2011, after the success of Love Modesto, which started in 2009. While Turlock also had their own smaller version of the service project, formerly called Servolution, offered through New Life Christian Center, Pastor Dave Larson said that he wanted to expand the project into the community so that others who did not attend New Life could participate as well.
After nearly a decade of waiting, California State University, Stanislaus students will finally get their chance to get “hyphy” with this year’s Warrior Day headliner. The CSU Stanislaus Warrior Activities Center announced Friday that rapper E-40 will be performing at this year’s Warrior Day on May 8.
The California State University, Stanislaus Department of Theatre will be performing William Shakespeare’s “King Lear” for free under the stars this spring. “King Lear,” a dark and mystifying tragedy, is the sixth annual outdoor Shakespeare production at the University. This year the production is directed by Patricia O’Donnell and feature Jere O’Donnell in the titular role.
Get your carafes, mason jars, and 10-gallon hats ready, because on Saturday, at 7-Eleven locations across the nation, you can fill your any cup with Slurpee deliciousness. Okay, maybe don’t fill the 10-gallon hat, but 7-Eleven is encouraging creativity when it comes to “Bring Your Own Cup Day,” hosted from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, April 11.

The Turlock Library will offer a number of free, fun programs for all ages throughout the month of April. April kicks off with the celebration of National Poetry Month, where guests can add to the library’s “Poet-Tree,” by writing down their favorite poems on leaves used to decorate the tree.
Beer drinkers rejoice! For the third consecutive year, one of the state’s premiere celebrations of craft beer will be hosted in Turlock. The third annual Central Valley Brewfest will be bigger and hoppier than ever when it returns to the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds from 1 to 5 p.m. on May 9.
Tickets are currently available for the third annual Garden Tour, hosted by the Turlock Garden Club. The Garden Tour will take place on Saturday, April 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
