California State University, Stanislaus will be hosting its second free Science Saturday of the school year, “The Sweet Side of Chemistry” on Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Naraghi Hall of Science, third floor.

Ideally the class is appropriate for students in grades 5-6.

Students will extract food dyes used in candy coating, separate food dyes using chromatography techniques, identify dye components in candies, analyze chemical data to identify molecules and learn the preparation of chemical solutions.

CSU Stanislaus students from the Chemistry Club join Dr. Evlin Aleman, Dr. Shane Phillips and Dr. Koni Stone in offering this experience for kids.

Seating is limited, please call 209-667-3311 to reserve your place in The Sweet Side of Chemistry.
